It is now the summer and am a tad bit excited! Why you may ask? Well what better way to treat yourself during the warm weather then to enjoy some fresh homemade meals and perhaps some comfort food as well as treats to cool off. To make this easy, I have pulled together some of my favorites of the season for inspiration and for you to relish in.

High Waisted Skirt

While the start of a new work week may just be around the corner, I am more than thrilled because it is the weekend. This means relaxing and enjoying the warm weather.  With the lack of sleep due to early mornings, I will definitely be needing all the rest I can get. Whether it be lounging on the couch or simply going to a near by beach, I will be quite content with whatever I can get.

On weekends, I do like to put the time and effort in on so called 'dressing up', Recently, I have been sporting the high waisted skirt look as it is easy to pull off. It can be dressed up or down depending on the types of accessories you choose to wear. I adore the looks put together by Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific incorporating her bright skirts.

This is my favorite as Blair managed to pair her bold pink skirt with a chic plaid collared shirt. Who knew that these two would work so well!

How would you pull this look off?

Enjoy!

Happy Stripes

It is days like today that would be ideal for sleeping in. In other words, it's raining once again in the lovely city of Kingston. Compared to yesterday's humid weather, this is somewhat refreshing. This image I found on Pinterest just brightened my day right up and the vibe I got was inspirational. Basically, it reminded me to keep on smiling and live for the moment because you never know what will happen.

Upon closer observation, my fashion eye noted the obvious stripes and sequins that simply complement one another. It's a nautical feel with a touch of glam, but can still be quite casual or dressed up depending on the occasion. Sequins add an easy dose of elegance. While this dress my be loose fitting or slightly slouchy, add a blazer or a bright statement necklace and you'll be ready for a night out!

What inspires you?

Four Years | Queen's University

The Start | I officially graduated this past Friday and I’ve been trying to figure out exactly how to sum up my four years at Queen’s University. Truthfully, I have had my ups and downs. Just thinking about everything that I’ve been through, everything that I’ve experienced, and everything that I’ve somewhat accomplished is overwhelming.

Regrets | I seriously did not think I was going to make it through the first semester let alone make it through four years. While I was more than excited to move to Kingston, the first two years were my hardest. Little did I know that the choices I had made in terms of residence and roommate selection would affect my future years. While the people I have met, have been for the most part truly genuine, others were not. Having attended an all-girls’ high school, I wanted to experience co-ed life. Then again, I regretted this decision and would have now preferred the idea of residing in an all-girls’ residence. There would have been less drama, competitiveness and cliquing. On the other hand, I would like to mention that the individuals that I did meet, I have formed lasting friendships and have actually lived with some of them for the last three years.

Moving On | I learned several things despite my struggles with classes and grades. I recognized that I could survive and get through it all, which I have done. While I did not confide in professors, counselors or even close friends, I will admit it was hard getting by even when I had to put on a brave face everyday. This leads to my next point.

Confession | I have had a hard time admitting to failure or rejection. As a result, I have accumulated a bunch of pent up resentment and angst emotions. All this eventually came out at the start of last summer. I came to the realization that I did not have a support system or anyone to turn to when I was dealing with school issues as I assumed people would judge me. This being said, I will confess that I have had more than a few breakdowns, but have kept them to myself. After confiding to a close friend and meeting people outside my usual group of friends, lots of great things came out of those horrible semesters. I pulled my grades up drastically; I resorted to blogging as a creative outlook; I began to figure out how to successfully get through university academics, friendships and life in general. I figured how I study best. I basically did not have a social life in my fourth year of university. I was on campus everyday at 8h30am either doing work, applying to jobs etc. It was then that I realized who my true friends were and eventually how to have a well-balanced life.

The End | While it has been four years, it definitely hasn’t been the easiest. This being said, I have learned so much in the process and do not regret any of it as I have grown as a person.

Stacked Arm Candy

I have decided that I am going to reward myself with a graduation gift for all my hard work this year. You may ask what? Well that is to be decided. I have narrowed it down to two items, a set of bracelets or a watch. Now a days, I am all about this so called arm candy or better yet arm party, as mixin and matching is what I do best. Then again, as I am entering the professional world, my idea of arm candy needs to be toned down and office friendly.

When it comes to watches, there's a lot to choose from. From a chunky oversized watch to a delicate, feminine timepiece, these touches add a sophisticated vibe to your overall stacked look. On the other hand, bracelets consist of bangles, cuffs, beads, the list goes on. This is followed by then intertwining different textures and colours depending on your outfit.

I personally would like a watch with a beige or black leather strap and a rose gold stainless steel case with  tonal accents preferably Michael Kors or Marc Jacobs. I for one, do not like to follow trends with accessories. Hence the watch I shall purchase will have to be classic but still suit my personality and be worn with different outfits. And as I am writing this, I have come to the realization that a watch is necessary because I don't always carry my cell phone with me, I know shocking right!

Also don't you simply adore this stacked look!

How do you stack your bracelets and watches? I would love to see your lovely creations.

Enjoy!

Simple & Classic Dress

After spending the afternoon shopping for my convocation dress, I may have found the one. However I would like to state that before going into shops, I knew that the dress I would purchase would have to be simple and classic but still have a flare of uniqueness. I had seen the dress below and was searching endlessly for something similar. The lace white bodice and the flowing aqua bottom seem to work so well together.

But the dress I bought is completely different than the dress I had in mind.

Hint: Think bright!

You will just have to wait until next week to see the dress I got!

Enjoy!
