Homemade Waffles

Brunch is one of my favourite meals and my go to place when I'm back home in Montreal is L'Avenue. This restaurant is like no other with its funky design and delicious food. L'Avenue truly never disappoints, you simply need to take a look at the lineup outside! It is here where I tried the odd combination (so I thought) of bacon cheddar cheese waffles. Now, it's the only way I'll have my waffles on Sunday. Mmmm.

You have to try it before you say anything else about it!

Ingredients for waffle:

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
2 eggs
1 and 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup melted butter
1 tsp vanilla

Steps:

In large bowl, whisk together all dry ingredients. Set aside then preheat waffle maker. In a separate bowl, mix eggs, milk, butter and vanilla. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and beat until blended.

Ladle batter into waffle maker and cook until golden and crisp.

Serve with bacon, shredded cheese and some great tasting maple syrup!

What's your favourite Sunday brunch item?
