Sipps | Mars Bar Chocolate Cheesecake Cake

The title says it all. Sipps Coffee & Dessert Bar in Kingston, Ontario is always coming out with 'wow' cakes and they sure have outdone themselves with this decadent Mars Bar Chocolate Cheesecake Cake. It's a mouthful to say but once you've tried it, you'll be wanting more. Sarah Whitehead, Lead Creationist i.e Baker mentions that it doesn't get better than three layers of chocolate cake combined with two layers of Mars Bar cheesecake and homemade butter cream icing topped with caramel drizzle.

This cake is light and rich though not overwhelming in taste, just chocolaty enough. As you glide your fork, you're found with smoothness of the whipped icing combined with cheesecake and chocolate cake. A sip of milk afterwards is a must to prepare for the next bite.

This Mars Bar delicacy is flavourful and ridiculously delicious. It is the perfect treat with a tall glass of milk or to keep the energy up when you're looking to satisfy your sweet craving.

Give this cheesecake cake a go, you won't regret it! Sipps Coffee & Dessert Bar is the the perfect spot in downtown Kingston for a date or casual hangout by the waterfront.

By the way, who wishes they could buy buttercream icing in a jar? Not that Betty Crocker stuff! I'm not ashamed to say I do!

Chunks of Mars Bar can be found throughout this cake, so be prepared for caramel gooeyness!

National Eggs Benedict Day

Eggs Benedict Day is an excuse to indulge in on of my favourite brunch meals as it ensures that I don't have to eat again for the rest of the day. It fills me right up, leaving me with a smile and satisfied tummy. Who knew that an English muffin topped with ham or bacon and poached egg and drowning in a creaming hollandaise sauce would be so delightful?

As a university student in Kingston, Tommy's was (still is!) the go-to spot for Sunday brunch to cure a hangover or simply catch up with friends. The atmosphere is fun, inviting and the staff are so friendly. I remember it fondly for the Eggs Benny and playing The Game of Life. Yes this diner has board games! How awesome is that! But now that I have a partner who loves to cook, I let him take care of my eggs benedict.

Enjoy this comforting dish for an early breakfast or late dinner.

Happy Spring Reading

The weather has been a tad indecisive this week with rain, snow and today mother nature has come to her senses bringing us some lovely sunshine with a slight chill in the air. So it would only make sense to start the day with a warm cup of tea paired with a good magazine and book in hand. I have made it my mission to read for thirty minutes a day to clear my head and have 'me' time.

A good friend of mine, surprised me with a late birthday present this past weekend. It was the book, Lean In for Graduates by Sheryl Sandberg. Quite different from her first book, it now includes new chapters on finding your first job, negotiating your salary, crafting a resume, handling your first interview and so forth. The subtext though still vividly resonates the thoughts of believing in ourselves as women and reaching for our aspirations by leaning in and actually doing something instead of blaming institutional barriers that exist. In other words, be who YOU want to be, a motto I have lived by since graduating university.

If you are a young grad entering the workforce, this book is for you!

What are you reading this spring?

Enjoy!

Black + Gold Details | SammyDress Review

Timeless and classic pieces are items that will be found in my wardrobe. I am not one to follow trends and surprisingly my closet is filled with more collared shirts than a regular person should own and my accessories consist mainly of statement necklaces. Both of which go hand in hand. I'd describe my style as preppy chic and when Sammydress, a wholesale online fashion retail company with great prices, offered me to pick out some pieces that would suit my style, I was overwhelmed at first with the vast selection and realized that the majority of the clothing was one size fit all and geared for more petite woman. That said, when browsing the jewelry and handbag section, boy was I impressed with the quality and extensive styles. This preppy gal was swooning over the J.Crew and Gap like items (here, here and here).

I picked out three items that could seamlessly be incorporated into my style and be worn everyday. Shipping was quite quick and came from their Europe warehouse. To my surprise, I realized I could style the black watch, colour blocking purse and cloak I choose, all together. With the consistent black and gold detail, they paired perfectly together. Sammydress is certainly an online shop I will be visiting again.
