Top 5 Last Minute Foodie Gifts in Kingston

Holy smokes guys it's almost Christmas!

In less than a week, December 25th will have come and gone. Seriously though where did the entire year go? 2018 just flew by and lord help me because I'm not ready for 2019 just yet.... as I turn 30 in March. Yup, I said it I'll be leaving my twenties behind.

2018 has been a busy year, to say the least with ups and downs. But with a crazy work schedule leading into the holidays, I'm here to share my wisdom on holiday gift giving aka how can I make your lives easier because it’s crazy difficult to figure out what to get for everyone. So I feel you.

I've gathered together 5 of my favourite Kingston foodie items that will make the perfect gift for the last-minute planner, and the just plain forgetful. Let's see those hands up folks.

AND! Since I'm a practical gift giver, what better way to cheer someone up than with FOOD!

Top 5 Last Minute Foodie Gifts in Kingston

COCOABISTRO

For your chocolate-loving friend, a box of decadent chocolates from Cocoa Bistro will win you huge bonus points. With a new location in the west end of Kingston, hop in your car and grab yourself a few boxes.

My recommendations: The wonderful part about CocoaBistro is that you can make your own chocolate box or if you're in a hurry then no problem as ready to go chocolate boxes are available. Though with that being said, some of my favourite flavours are: vanilla bean ganache, molten sea salt caramel, and espresso.

THE CHEESECAKERY BAKERY

For that someone who always needs a sweet midnight snack or a treat on the go, the Cheesecakery Bakery has got you covered. Best part, these jars of wonders are available at several shops in Kingston. Also, I'd recommend getting a trio of cheesecakes in a jar so your friend or loved one can indulge and sample a few flavours. Getting just one jar shouldn't be allowed, they're that good!

My recommendations: When it comes to cheesecake, I'm a classic girl - I love cheery or blueberry. BUT! This holiday season, new flavours such as gingerbread, eggnog, and candy cane are available.

NORTHSIDE ESPRESSO + KITCHEN

So why did I include Northside? They now offer GIFT CERTIFICATES! So give your friend who dreams about weekend brunch all week the gift of an amazing brunch experience in downtown Kingston. Inspired by the cafe culture of Melbourne, Australia, this spot has become the new hip area to dine out, enjoy some mimosas and have a good time.

My recommendations: Try the revamped baked French toast with roasted butter apples, house-made caramel, and mascarpone cheese, as well as the Tim's Benny - eggs benedict, served with ham and apple cider hollandaise sauce and of course, we can't forget the infamous Avo Smash aka avocado on toast.

KINGSTON OLIVE OIL COMPANY

This foodie gift may be odd but if you have someone special who truly enjoys cooking then olive oils will go over well especially with this gift set from Kingston Olive Oil Company.

My recommendations: If you're looking for a bread dipping combo, my favourite include Black Mission Fig Balsamic Vinegar with Nocellara Extra Virgin Olive Oil or the Hojiblanca Olive Oil. Ever since my first visit to Olivea, I've been hooked on this pairing. Though my favourite cooking oil is the Lemon Fused Oil which is great in pasta, chicken and fish dishes.

NORTH ROAST COFFEE

So have someone on your Christmas list who is serious about their coffee? Well, chances are they have all the basic items they need to make their favorite brew. So you definitely don’t want to get them something they already have or won’t ever use, so what should you do?

Get them the Christmas blend from North Roast Coffee - a fair trade organic coffee roaster located in the west end of Kingston! While I'm a single cup of coffee in a day type of gal, I appreciate each sip and this blend gives me just the right amount of energy to get me going in the morning with a smooth taste.

Happy Holidays my foodie friends and hope this makes your gift giving a bit easier this year!
