Hotel Chocolat

More cocoa, less sugar?

Yup you've got it - a healthier and more satisfying cocoa hit! This gal is introducing you to Britain’s best-known luxury chocolatier by the name of Hotel Chocolat. They've got everything you need to make it a truly magical Christmas this season and dare I say it, I think even Santa would admire their gift delivery skills. But let's get to the main reason we're all here - from stocking fillers, extra little gifts to stylish additions for your tree and table, you are sure to find a delightful treat for everyone. Because who doesn't love to indulge in a decadent selection of chocolates.

Hotel Chocolat is a brand that has an obsession with cocoa, a flair for creativity and a determination to turn the traditional chocolate industry on its head. Behind every ridiculously thick shells of their chocolates, hides inside an extra layer of sweet excitement.

I had the wonderful opportunity to sample these chocolates and I was over the moon with the Everything Collection. With such bold flavors, you only need one or two chocolates to satisfy your sweet craving. The little cheesecake chocolates in lemon, strawberry and caramel were definitely my favorite.

A few snaps of Hotel Chocolat chocolates:

p.s. all of Hotel Chocolat's gifts can be delivered in a ribbon-tied gift box with a personalized card, straight to friends and family.

Give 'em some love and treat someone special: www.hotelchocolat.com

The Socialist Pig in Gananoque

Brunch is reason enough to get out of bed in the morning. It's the perfect cure for hangovers and weekday blunders, an indulgent wake-up call complete with eggs benny, fluffy pancakes and of course, a generous helping of crispy bacon.

No matter what city you're in, there is always no shortage of amazing spots to choose from. Ask me if I'd like to go to brunch and my immediate answer will most certainly be YES, as it is quite the gratifying ritual that deserves to be celebrated with lots of caffeine.

This bring me to The Socialist Pig, a quaint coffee shop and restaurant located in Gananoque, part of the 1000 Islands area that truly deserve some jazz hands love (I know I'm cheesy). With a vintage cozy feel, this shop is more than just good coffee, delectable desserts and delicious dining - it has a sense of passion and love for its community that keeps people coming back such as myself.

My go-to at The Pig (other than their mac n cheese) is hands down their brunch menu!

Snaps of my scrumptious meal that included a seasonal beverage of none other than gingerbread latte:

Just a few of the many delectable choices offered for brunch.

It's a one step process and quite the user friendly tool. From meats, fruits to mason jars, the FoodSaver is hands down your lifesaver this season and worth every penny. Imagine keeping your food fresh for up to five times longer than normal.

Thanks to its better sealing power (I'm not kidding!) and fully automatic option, the FoodSaver is fast and efficient. The 2-in-1 sealing feature helps to perform lots of multiple tasks in a breeze.

This vacuum sealer will a quite the handy dandy appliance with the holidays right around the corner. Have you ever sealed a full chicken, an entire casserole or fresh strawberries? The FoodSaver will be your new best friend especially with its accessories, creating a perfect air-tight conditions in all situations as you are not limited to just using bags. The options are endless from refrigerated foods, pantry items to buying in bulk and saving money in the long run.

Food Truck Flavors Worth The Chase

Food trucks are nothing new to the foodie scene but specialty trucks have popped up with much anticipation over the years. Folks have responded with open hands as this cultural phenomena has evolved from your good old-fashioned french fries to a whole new food culture landscape.

This is much more than your typical street food.

As the world of food has become increasingly entwined with the world of technology, social media marketing has enabled food trucks to interact directly with their customers to foster a sense of community and to create brand loyalty.

But the most important question is, what are they serving?

As people engage in the thrill of the chase as they track the location of their favorite food trucks, I bring you my top food truck flavors:

1. Mexican

Food Truck Flavors
{Mission St North - Kingston, Ontario}

Did someone say fish tacos? Get in line for fresh soft-shelled tacos, spicy corn on the cob, and other Mexican-inspired dishes as they’re muy caliente. California is considered the land of fish tacos, but coastal areas in Mexico feast on seafood. Combine the two and that’s where food trucks blend the fresh flavors together and forge delectable dishes. But let’s not forget about those burritos filled with rice, black beans, pico de gallo, shredded cheese and a choice of meat – pork carnitas anyone?

2. East Coast

Food Truck Flavors
{Rock Lobster - Toronto, Ontario}

All things seafood? Count me in! This food truck flavor will surely cure your craving for the coast with an all-seafood menu. From fresh lobster rolls with hints of mayo and celery salt on a toasted New England hot dog bun, to creamy chowder with potatoes, bacon, and chunks of fresh lobster, to lobster grilled cheeses – you’ll surely be asking for more!

3. Comfort Food

Food Truck Flavors

Classic comfort food with a gourmet twist and seasonal flair is all the rage in the food truck biz. Get ready for some finger lickin’ goodness because to be honest, there is no bad comfort food. If it gives you comfort, it’s good. Imagine grilled cheese with smoked mac n cheese, a Southern fried chicken sandwich, a little new Orleans’ action with its famous shrimp po’ boy, delicious sloppy joes oozing out of a soft bun or creamy smoked bacon deviled eggs sprinkled with smoked paprika.

4. Asian Fusion

Food Truck Flavors
{Meryanda Food Truck - Ottawa, Ontario}

When the East meets West with a myriad of flavors and mobile gourmet dining experiences comes into play – you get dishes such as kimchi pulled pork poutine, fried rice balls packed with pan-Asian flavors and roti canai tacos topped with pulled brisket or, even better, peking duck. Expect to experience the true flavors of Asia with spoonfuls of sweet and spicy street eats.

5. Classics

Food Truck Flavors
{Fordino's Pizza - Kingston, Ontario}

Hot dogs, cheeseburgers or a good ol’ poutine – as much as we can’t get enough of the classics, many food trucks have taken the traditional usual chip truck flavors to new heights. Poutine goes beyond fries, curds and gravy – how about shredded beef brisket, cheese curds, brisket infused gravy, and barbecue sauce? Hot dogs or perhaps seasoned sausages layered with bacon, jack cheese, smoked onions and beef chili. Burgers topped with elk meat, cream cheese, caramelized onions, gouda and bacon. Are you drooling? Because I sure am!

Happy Thanksgiving

Fall is synonymous with cozy sweaters, football, pumpkin spice, changing leaf colours and everything in between - and that's how I like it, fall is definitely my favourite season.

Though let's not forget all that delicious food - I'm talking about Thanksgiving silly. This holiday is more than just having turkey - well okay I'm all about that stuffing, but it is truly about being around those you love and cherish, keeping traditions alive, being grateful for all you have and making new memories.

As per tradition, my parents and I headed to our cottage just a kilometres away from Mont Tremblant for a weekend getaway of relaxation and unplugging (literally no cell reception or wifi!). It was very much needed and so glad I took the weekend off for myself and spend quality time with loved ones.

Snapshots of my Thanksgiving weekend at my parents cottage:
