Good Food + Passion + Social Media + Food Truck = Chef

In theatres May 9th, Chef is an American comedy directed, co-produced, written by and starring Jon Favreau. Wow can one guy do any more? The film co-stars Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sofía Vergara, Dustin Hoffman, and John Leguizamo. A good looking crew indeed!

A tidbit of what Chef is about:

"Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) is an L.A. chef who made his early rep creating adventurous food but for the past few years has run the kitchen at a more conservative restaurant that pushes the same expert meals each evening. When Carl hears that Ramsey Michel (Oliver Platt), a food critic and one of Carl’s early champions, is to dine there that evening, he dreams up an innovative menu — but is overruled by his boss Riva (Dustin Hoffman) who wants him just to “play your hits.” He refuses and is fired. The critic tweets a derisory review, and Carl storms back into the restaurant, unleashing a harangue that other diners record. It goes viral. With no prospects for restaurant work, he must return to his roots and find artistic satisfaction as the owner-chef of a taco food truck." - Richard Corliss, Times

"With its gags about Twitter and food truck - triggered flash mobs, in 10 years it'll feel as dated as the '80s nouvelle cuisine in American Psycho. But for today, the irony is Chef is so charmingly middlebrow that it's exactly the cinematic comfort food it mocks: Favreau has made not a game-changing meal to remember but a perfect chocolate lava cake." - Amy Nicholson, Village Voice

Let's get ready foodies for a night out and be sure not to come hungry!
