Once again, this is another reason I would like to move to New York along with various other ones. But let's take a second and relish in the idea of a hybrid between a doughnut and a croissant. Its name, the Cronut. This reminds me of my high school days where I would have a croissant from Première Moisson every morning as it was right around the corner from my house. Having grown up in Quebec, French pastries were part of my daily diet and don't worry I did work out like a mad woman. So I simply couldn't resist this new craze. The concept of the cronut is brilliant in my mind and after hearing about this, I was just so ecstatic. Someone will be taking a trip back home to Montreal really soon!
Flaky layers on the outside paired with a creamy filling on the inside, how can you say no? People literally line up in the wee hours of the morning to munch on this treat in the city that never sleeps. I may not be Dominique Ansel but I will attempt to make my own version of the delectable delicate hybrid masterpiece.
This month, my baking mission is: the cronut. Obviously!
Wish me luck!
Enjoy!
