Winemaker’s Dinner Benefit Series: Where Culinary Artistry Meets Philanthropy

Winemaker’s Dinner Benefit Series: Where Culinary Artistry Meets Philanthropy

Nestled right in our backyard lays one of Canada’s most exciting wine regions – Prince Edward County. Filled with award winning wineries producing world class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling (among others), this stunning area offers high quality wines to please every palette and a prime example is the ever-so successful Rosehall Run Vineyard.

But what transpires when you bring the taste of the County to the city of Kingston? Ladies and gentleman, we have our very first Winemaker’s Benefit Dinner Series hosted at the Delta Kingston Waterfront Hotel in support of the United Way KFLA. Acclaimed winemaker Dan Sullivan of Rosehall Run Vineyards and Executive Chef Brent McAllister of AquaTerra came together this past week to deliver a genuine dining experience with a multi-course dinner showcasing locally sourced artisanal ingredients – with carefully selected wine pairings to compliment each course. As two talented success stories in their own fields, Chef McAllister’s menu combined with Sullivan’s wine expertise set the bar pretty high for future dinners.

New Year New Image

New Year New Image

Say hello to The Staycationer!

Aquaterra Kingston

You guessed it, it's officially the new year and I've rebranded. Well, it's really only the beginning. I have a few more things up my sleeves, so stay tuned! I've been toying around with the idea of reinventing myself for awhile now and there's no time like the present. I was inspired by the wonderful city of Kingston and thought the name was quite fitting as I consider myself a locavore with a penchant for culinary deliciousness, who of course relishes in storytelling while creating meaningful connections.

So what's in store for 2016? You'll just have to wait and see my friends!

Hotel Chocolat

Hotel Chocolat

More cocoa, less sugar?

Yup you've got it - a healthier and more satisfying cocoa hit! This gal is introducing you to Britain’s best-known luxury chocolatier by the name of Hotel Chocolat. They've got everything you need to make it a truly magical Christmas this season and dare I say it, I think even Santa would admire their gift delivery skills. But let's get to the main reason we're all here - from stocking fillers, extra little gifts to stylish additions for your tree and table, you are sure to find a delightful treat for everyone. Because who doesn't love to indulge in a decadent selection of chocolates.

Hotel Chocolat is a brand that has an obsession with cocoa, a flair for creativity and a determination to turn the traditional chocolate industry on its head. Behind every ridiculously thick shells of their chocolates, hides inside an extra layer of sweet excitement.

I had the wonderful opportunity to sample these chocolates and I was over the moon with the Everything Collection. With such bold flavors, you only need one or two chocolates to satisfy your sweet craving. The little cheesecake chocolates in lemon, strawberry and caramel were definitely my favorite.

A few snaps of Hotel Chocolat chocolates:

p.s. all of Hotel Chocolat's gifts can be delivered in a ribbon-tied gift box with a personalized card, straight to friends and family.

Give 'em some love and treat someone special: www.hotelchocolat.com

The Socialist Pig in Gananoque

The Socialist Pig in Gananoque

Brunch is reason enough to get out of bed in the morning. It's the perfect cure for hangovers and weekday blunders, an indulgent wake-up call complete with eggs benny, fluffy pancakes and of course, a generous helping of crispy bacon.

No matter what city you're in, there is always no shortage of amazing spots to choose from. Ask me if I'd like to go to brunch and my immediate answer will most certainly be YES, as it is quite the gratifying ritual that deserves to be celebrated with lots of caffeine.

This bring me to The Socialist Pig, a quaint coffee shop and restaurant located in Gananoque, part of the 1000 Islands area that truly deserve some jazz hands love (I know I'm cheesy). With a vintage cozy feel, this shop is more than just good coffee, delectable desserts and delicious dining - it has a sense of passion and love for its community that keeps people coming back such as myself.

My go-to at The Pig (other than their mac n cheese) is hands down their brunch menu!

Snaps of my scrumptious meal that included a seasonal beverage of none other than gingerbread latte:

Just a few of the many delectable choices offered for brunch.

The Charleston | Bacon + cheddar Belgian waffles topped with poached eggs and a heavenly hollandaise sauce.

This vacuum sealer will a quite the handy dandy appliance with the holidays right around the corner. Have you ever sealed a full chicken, an entire casserole or fresh strawberries? The FoodSaver will be your new best friend especially with its accessories, creating a perfect air-tight conditions in all situations as you are not limited to just using bags.
